It's All About Colors

MellowYellowMondayBadge

Things I bought using my chalk allowance. I chose colored chalk to make my board colorful. Lol. Oil pastel is for my visual aids. There are times when I also need hard copy of my visual aids in power point. Could not live without a cutter on my case too. So, I include my favorite blue cutter.
Justify FullOn Thursday, I received my first full chalk allowance. Full because it was only a part of it last year. But I was able to buy a box of dustless chalk. Here below is a picture of what I bought last year. I doubt if I will be able to consume all these this year.

I chose dustless to protect my eyes from allergy. Way back school year 2001-2002, my eyes get irritated due to dust. The irritation was accompanied by redness on my eyes that made me feel so uncomfortable. But that didn't last for long because I see a doctor immediately. I went to Chong Hua Medical Arts and have my eyes checked by Dr. Lim (an eye specialist referred by my colleague). With the prescribed medicine the itch cease until it was totally cured.

Hair and Make-up Contest

Jason Cantal, my student in second year Cattleya joined in hair and make-up contest on July 30, 2010 in our school. Her model is her classmate Joemie An. He uses cosmetics like Avon products for the cheeks, Maybelline for the eyes, Loreal for the cheeks, and Max Factor cosmetics for her. He also provided her with a black cocktail dress.

I asked her for a pose and she made it perfectly.

While waiting for the result, he asked for a shot with her model after the actual contest.

Nutrition Month Culmination Program

An entry for

Nutrition Month usually falls on July in the Philippines. Since July 30 is Friday, the culmination was done on that day in DASNHS. The contests were scheduled in the morning and some remaining categories in the afternoon.

Before the program has started, we prepare the stage for the afternoon's activity. Since, my students in ICT are first years, I didn't bother to ask for their assistance in putting up the curtain because they are still very young for this. Meanwhile, one student from the Civil Technology asked me about the decoration for his group is already in the stage waiting for me. Their teacher asked them to help me too. I'm so glad they offered their helping hands.

Here are some of their pictures while working.

Their faces right after putting up the letters. We finished this at exactly 12:00 noon. I asked them to pose for a while...for documentation purposes and for my blog of course, hehe :-))
I missed something in this activity. I forgot to ask their names, lol. Some faces were familiar but there were some whom I just see. The school is too big for me to familiarize all students actually. Another reason is, I am new in the school and I am only handling about 200 students last year and 200 students this year OVER 2,000 students (the total school population). Our school has the biggest population in the entire division of Toledo City. One big happy family :-)

Thank You Dear God for the Blessings

There are a lot of reasons to be thankful today. Let me count some that I received this week. These are...good health to family members, good weather (it's foggy in our school yesterday and I love it!), good students, passionate and understanding colleagues, delicious lunch today courtesy from our principal who is celebrating her 64th birthday, and most of all, I received a news that my appointment has arrived! I feel so blessed today. God is always good all the time.

As a recognition to these blessings, I need to make our stage decoration beautiful tomorrow. :-))

Relax! Even in the Middle of Haste

When I was standing at the side of the Commercial Arcade in our City. Looking at the ship that was about to depart for San Carlos City. It is always relaxing to stay here in the afternoon for few minutes. It's nice to sit there in the bench with the chilly sea breeze.

SAMSUNG ES15

Majority of my image posts were just taken from my phone camera. In most photos, I used an editing software to at least brighten or darken it's shade. I am trying to search online for a digital camera. And google brought me in this site where I found a cool pink handy Samsung digital camera.

I was simply struck by it's title :-)

Let the good times last forever.

It has
  • 10.2 megapixels
  • Digital image stabilization (DIS)
  • Beauty shot
  • 2.5" intelligent LCD (230K)

Because I Love Pineapple :-)

Fresh and juicy pineapple chunks from Dole.

It's a healthy snack.

DOLE Pineapple Chunks are also good for topping, baking or can be added in fruit salads.

Information and Communication Technology

Lately, I am spending almost 50% of my time doing research on the basics of Computer. It is because I am now handling ICT or Information and Communication Technology for first year high school students in our school. ICT is one of the specializations offered in T.L.E. or Technology and Livelihood Education. The subject seems interesting but I just need notes to start it correctly. I am not an IT grad nor an expert on Computer. But I am just a simple drafter both in manual and computer-aided one who is trying the best I have.

PECs or Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies has been our first topic. Since in the new Curriculum of 2010 (Secondary Education Curriculum) entrepreneurial skills of the students should be developed.

The following were the topics we were able to take up:

History of Computer
How Computers Work
Input Devices
Output Devices
Central Processing Unit
Storage Devices

God is so good because I have found a complete set of the needed references. That was given by my former colleague at Consolatrix College, Ma'am Amy Balverde. Those were the used books of her kids bought from Phoenix Publishing House, Inc. Thanks again Ma'am.

Natural Cancer Killer

We rest in the lounge area of our school after lunch. Before taking a nap, we had a short conversation. Then, one of my colleagues shared about the health benefits of guyabano. She said it can cure cancer. Other colleague mentioned too that they have that plant at home.

While on my desk. I thought of doing a deep research on the health benefits of guyabano or soursop. And this is what I have found:

Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to:
* Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss
* Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections
* Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment
* Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life
* Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer..
* The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug!
* What’s more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectively hunts down and kills only cancer cells.

Swimming Time

He's my nephew Aldeen performing a front tumbling. That was when they visited us here in Cebu. We went to Park Place resort late in the afternoon and enjoyed swimming at the pool.

What is Mangosteen?

While on the server or our cafe, I had nothing to do but research some fruits that give extreme health benefits. And mangosteen was one of the topics that interest me most.

An ultra-tropical tree, the mangosteen must be grown in consistently warm conditions, as exposure to temperatures below 0°C (32°F) for prolonged periods will generally kill a mature plant. They are known to recover from brief cold spells rather well, often with damage only to young growth. Experienced horticulturists have grown this species outdoors, and brought them to fruit in extreme Southern Florida.

Mangosteen is a fruit grown in the Asian tropics that contains antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. The fruit is edible, so a supplement is not needed to obtain its benefits. Many marketing claims have been made about the health benefits of mangosteen supplements, but no clinical trials have been conducted. So, until more research is done on the potential health benefits of mangosteen supplements, it would be wise (and more economical) to stick to obtaining these benefits from fruits and vegetables instead of a supplement.

Sad News

Yesterday, I received two sad news. First was the death of my former students' Mom/my former colleague's Aunt due to aneurysm. The other day my friend texted me informing that her Aunt was in ICU.

Second, was the road accident happened near our school in DAS, Lutopan, Toledo City, Cebu. Corominas bus lost its brake and hit the fence of a house along the road. It's the second accident on that area, the first was LG bus traveling from Cebu to Toledo some years ago. It is really an accident prone area. Many have said that the bus was overloaded with passengers. Well it's not new and it is too sad to know about that. Specially during Saturdays when a lot of people have to go home. I myself experienced riding an overloaded bus. And the last time I ride a bus feels like between life and death. There are a lot of curves on the way and it's not that easy to manage if the vehicle is overloaded. Bus drivers bound for Toledo, Pinamungahan, Balamban and the neighboring towns really have to follow rules given by the authorities. I feel very sad about the number of people who lost their lives due to the accident.

Looking at the Sky On Friday 7

This picture was taken on May 9 at Arpili Residences, Balamban, Cebu, Philippines. That was when we attended our friends' wedding and the receprion was held here.

The sky was almost fully covered with clouds here. But I'm glad there's a bit in the lower left corner. Blurred because I just use my phone cam here.
