Election Preparations

Kuya Kim holding the PCOS machine.

PCOS which means Precinct Count Optical Scan machines are now in the respective COMELEC offices around the country. Ang makinang bibilang ng boto sa halalan.

I just arrived from a short meeting in the voting area where I am assigned as a support staff this coming election. Some important points were stressed out by our supervisor who presided the meeting. That was a sort of review since the BEIs have had their training already. And briefing with the COMELEC was already done. The presider also announced the schedule of the mock election. It will be on May 8, 2010 instead of May 7 the first schedule.

While watching videos on PCOS demo I thought of writing a short diary about my experience today. Below is an instructional video I viewed earlier. It is from the file of "carloaccount" in youtube.

This is how the ballot looks like. The oval beside the name of their candidate will be shaded fully.

Part of the ballot.

If it is shaded like this it can't be counted. So, everyone must be careful in shading.

The egg shaped oval must be shaded fully in order to make it a valid vote as shown below.

Remember, you must keep your ballots clean. And don't over vote or else it will be considered invalid.

Long Lost Friends

Dear readers, you might wonder why the title is "After 11 Years"? Hmmm actually, we (Rosiel, Andelyn and I) were classmates in college at Cebu State College of Science and Technology - Main Campus now CTU (Cebu Technological University). Andelyn (in red) and I (in violet) graduated in 1999 taking the diploma of BSIT major in Architectural Drafting. While Rosiel had her diploma in Architecture also but not in CSCST anymore because she transferred at Cebu Institute of Technology after second year.

We were the only female in the group of BSIT Section F. After that remarkable events in our lives, Ann and I separate ways for our chosen career. She works in a furniture company and I work as casual employee at the City Engineering Office of Toledo after graduation. After my contract, my Aunt suggested that it is also nice to take units in Education where I can be qualified to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers. Teacher! Teacher? Hmmm...that's a great idea but am I sure that I can make it? Standing in front...facing with students in different personalities and upbringing...I was not sure if I can really do it.

Days passed, time swift away, my career path changes! After those challenging days at CMTI for my education units, LET review at Sahara Hotel with professors from IIT, Iligan City and those boring days waiting for the LET result, I find myself walking along the corridor of Consolatrix College. It is a private school...the only private school in Toledo City where I worked as a Drafting teacher. That was in the year 2001.

On February 12, 2007 (8 years after graduation), I went to the City to meet an old friend and while I was on my way I met Ann! That was unexpected. She was going to attend a seminar on Immigration at the mall's conference hall. We just asked each others number and went off.

Ann and I see each other often during our free time. Rosiel became one of the topics in our conversations. Until such time when I checked facebook account, I tried to search Rosiel and there she was! I found here. Added her as my friend and in January 2010, we had a reunion. The three of us were reunited. :-)

It's Summer Time!!!

Today, I'm cleared in all the requirements needed by the school where I am working as a teacher. At last! It's already a start of the long vacation! Yipey! For the first time, I will be able to experience a free summer time. Although, we are going to have a seminar on the 28th and 29th of April still this vacation to me would seem so memorable. The first long vacation I ever experience in my entire life of teaching. In my eight years in the private school we only have two weeks to relax. But not anymore this time. It's summer time!!!

How to start a blog?

It takes weeks in searching for the right answer of this question. Even google supplies all the information it can give. And yet I wasn't able to find one exactly. I thought it was just as learning a,b,c but I was wrong. Rather it is somewhat like learning how to walk before we run. It's hard to attain what we wish to happen in our blog without someone to guide in this adventure. Well as what I have read "no great things happen overnight". And it takes patience, sacrifice and even perseverance to succeed.

A person of few words and more in action best describes me. If blogging is about writing an article, will I be able to make it? We'll see :-) And if you wanna know, you can also take this journey with me.

Moreover, I made this simple blog to express my deepest gratitude to the following who helped me start this techy thing. Their names and contributions are as follows.

Meet my mentors.
