Happy holidays everyone!

It's been weeks again when I wasn't able o update this blog due to work loads in the current station. But I still wanted to take time giving a refresher post in this blog. My original blog, my first blog. When I bought two domains mariahbella.com and lofty-ideals.com, my time was given to these new sites. Although miss lookthis for how many times, I still wanted to update this baby blog of mine. This is were I learn the basics and met new friends online.

The year is about to end and I want to end it by updating this blog. :-)

And we got stars as reward for our participation. In every activity given by the facilitators, we need to make it fast and meaningful for yellow stars. A yellow star is equivalent to 20 points. And see we got a lot of yellow starts. :-) We had a lot of fun in the entire duration of the 3-day seminar.

Let me include here my latest tulip painting with yellow ones to be given away on December 2, 2011. The first online contest I will ever have for my other website: lofty-ideals.com.

An original painting which will be given away to one lucky winner. The painting size id 10"x16" with inside frame of durable wood. Mixed media was used. A little of oil paint and a lot of poster color finished with valspar paint that makes is shine and be protected from dust.

Photos taken during our 3-day seminar on SBM or School Based Manangement. That was tiresome yet a rewarding experience for it was indeed fruitful.

Outside was a flag of the Philippines with the beautiful blue sky. It's a raw picture. The sky is extra clear, peaceful, calm and most of all B L U E :-)

With colleagues in our seat at the corridor. An extension of the venu. I'm glad my colleague beside me is in blue shirt.

Every after break, picture taking takes place. Wishing that building will soon be finished so we can transfer from all G.I. enclosed room. G.I. Roof, G.I. wall, G.I. all around minus the ceiling.

It's been months when I stayed focus on my new website, the domain I purchased from godaddy.com, the http://mariahbella.com/. I thought I can just leave this behind but I was wrong. I miss the page where I learn a lot of things, the place where I met a lot of friends whom I lost when I moved to http://mariahbella.com/. Uhm, well, I was able to keep some of my friends and still communicating with them in the other blog but I actually lost the many. :-(

Henceforth, I will be upadating this every now and then in balance with the other site I have. See you all again. Sorry for the times when I was not able to response to your comment and visit you back in your blogsite.

William (Duke of Cambridge) and Kate finally had their most awaited day, their wedding. The Royal Wedding. The wedding ceremony was done at 11:00 A. M. on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey.

Kate's gown was design by British designer Sarah Burton of Alexander Mcqueen. Her maid of honor was her sister Pippa while William's best man was his brother, Prince Harry.

The wedding cake was designed by Fiona Cairns. William requested a chocolate buiscit cake for the reception at Buckingham Palace.

Kate's wedding ring is made up of welsh gold. A rare and expensive gold that can only be found at Wales specifically, North Wales and Barmouth.

Kate's bouquet will not be thrown rather it will be offered in the tomb of the unknown warrior.

Keoni: My New Pet

Keoni the turtle. I bought this turtle last March from a graduating student in our school and named him Keoni. :-) I need to put Keoni in a safe place. In a laundry basket for teh mean time. I just pour his shelter with water every now and then to keep him cool all the time. I am still planning a house for him where he is comfortable. At first, he always hide at his shell. I have never seen him eat and drink until he is already used to the enironment. I find him to be very observant too, when somebody is coming he stops and just look around.

It's funny because few days after having Keoni, I received a text message from a friend that goes, "A turtle taught me that no matter how heavy his bearings are, it's God's choice to make him carry the luggage for it'sthe only way he will be protected."

Let me share to you what I have researched about turtles. Let me begin with it's birth and life span. Female tortoises dig nesting burrows where eggs layed typically during the night and covered with sand or soil after the hatching period. It will be left unattended from three to six months, inucubation period. Tales tell that tortoise live for about 150 years. Many said that the age of a tortoise can be determined by counting the concentric circles on it's carapace (upper shell). But it has been said too that it's growth depends upon the supply of water and food given to this creature.

AutoCAD: The Basics

CAD or Computer Aided Drafting was introduced to us in 1998. We were using the old version too. There was only one PC unit in our drafting shop. Since we were about 40 in the class, our professor arranged a schedule in an alphabetical order. So everybody has the chance to draw using some important commands. If we were not able to master CAD during the day, at least we were able to have a skill. Learning the basics plays an important role here.

In 2001, I enrolled again for a master's degree and still chosing drafting as my field of specialization. The basics I have learned stays the same. Commands are still the same. Skill has improved but haven't mastered yet since I stopped after that semester.

After eight long years of no CAD at all, I enrolled back and do the starting over again following the basics. It's another version but commands stays the same. I just need to review what I have learned before. Drawing some easy figures to refresh my memory. At first, it feels like I am unfamiliar with things again for the third time. But thank God, I am starting to recall things and made it again.

Prior knowledge about Drafting/Drawing is an advantage. The only difference here is instead of mechanical pencil, mouse pointer and accurate commands will be applied.

The Basics of AutoCAD

Learning and familiarizing about the x and y coordinates helps a lot before layouting any drawing. Numbers from the center point of the cartesian plane passing along the x axis to the right are of postive values. Numbers upward passing along the y axis have postive values too. While those that are located to the left and those that are located downlward gives negative values.

It's been 4 years when a friend Ayen had her section's shirts printed. That was pink printed with wet look navy blue textile paint. As I remember I was the one who made decided the design.

Now it's still blue, it's an emboss paint, royal blue. But this time in white shirt. This is for the special science class in their school. I hope she'll like it. It will be delivered tomorrow thru 2GO.

Lezel's elementary students, Irene's first year high school students, Tej's and my second year students years ago in their graduation cap. The ceremony was held on March 25, 2011, just last night. Congratulations to all of them. May they continue to soar high with God's guidance. May they will never forget where they reap the fruit they are now receiving. It's final! I'm so glad there's sketch up that helps me layout this project. It is fast and easy to use. Though it takes sleepless nights but it's all worth it. Sleepless nights because I actually don't have time to do it during office hours or during daytime. The simplicity of this drawing reflects the personality of the owner. :-) I have decided to make it simple since there are a lot of buildings and if am going to make every single detail I could not finish it before the end of the semester. Sir, it's already late. Sorry for it took me so long to finish this.

After lunch yesterday, I relaxed for a while then go to sleep after few minutes. That was about 2 P.M. when I got to bed, leaving all the things that made me too tired for weeks. The deadline for those projects are near, I need to double time or else...

That was Sunday, but it was never a rest day for me. I just fall asleep to recharge. And promised to go back to work when conditioned to do things. I set my alarm at 3 P.M. I need to finish my research proposal then the reaction papers. One at a time mode. :-) I also have to finish the school layout plan in some other days this week. The alarm rings, I was still very sleepy. But because I need to stick to the plotted plan, I forced myself to rise and work for it. My eyes were not completely opened yet when I stood beside my body. I was beside my body! I saw my body left, lying on the bed. OMG! Am I dead or am I just dreaming? I lie again and were my body was. I slept again few minutes then tried to rise again looking at the bed, I can't really carry my body. So, I decided to sleep again. I woke up at 5 P. M. It's too late but at least I am full of energy.

It made me think many times, what if my soul did not return to my body? Where will I be this time? Why did it happen? Too many unanswered questions.

Save the Rural or Agricultural or Wild and Scenic Places

Our country is so blessed with beautiful scenic views and wild species. That is the reason why people from the other countries in the whole world loves to visit here. Even if it our country is just very small as we can see in the world map.

In Davao, the Philippine eagles are saved there. It is so nice to see that eagle in a very huge cage even a big tree can stand. I hope they will continue to take care of them. It's not only eagles that they try to keep but also different kind of fishes and even crocodiles. It is good to know that there are people who voluntarily take care of them

There are a lot of scenic views found in Visayas too, beaches in Boracay, Cebu North and South and beautiful natural scenic views in Bohol and Camiguin. Boracay is just a very small island but people flock into this white beach specially during summer. Even how far it is from the progressive cities, people still care to preserve it's beauty. There are a lot of beaches that has been developed, it is good to see places where we can really tell that man takes care of these God-given gifts to human. I remember when I was young, we can freely go swimming as much as we like. But nowadays, no more free swimming area since people spend to make these beaches beautiful and safe. They developed it for those who love to unwind during weekends. Camiguin, let me call it a virgin island. Mt. Hibuk-hibok gives different kinds of water that tourists have to experiences. The hot spring, the cold spring, the soda water. Although not that highly developed but at least we can see that these scenic views are taken care of.

Luzon is the most progressive part in the Philippines. Even if we can see a lot of high rise buildings in this place, there are still paces where natives preserved. Like in Tagaytay and Baguio. These are known places where tourists visit too.

Regional Achievement Test scheduled today. It's quite a long sitting, standing, looking around day in a new environment while students are taking their significant part of today's big day. I was assigned in another school nearer to where I worked for. Whew! At least today I am free from a 45 minutes travel. The place where I am assigned is only about 15 minutes away by bus or jeepney.

The test is set into 8. Rows are set into 8 too. Each row have to take its own subject. It's nice because it's not that laboroius with regard to classroom management. I am very thankful that I was chosen to be one of the examineers because I accomplished something very important. I did it while proctoring the test.

After the exam, checking of the answer sheet was done. Then, counting the correct responses in every item. I am so thankful of these students because they helped me make it before the day ends.

Progress

This famous quote of Russell Wheeler Davenport above is quite thought provoking. At my first glance at this statement, I find it hard to get what he really wants to emphasize. Or maybe I was not focused on that time. But I had in mind the idea about progress. In my deep research, I found out that he is an American publisher. He was born in Bethlehem. Oh, it sounds interesting to know more about his biography. I just want to share this even if it not asked. I also knew that he is the son of the Bethlehem Steel vice president, Russell W. Davenport, Sr.

Every person’s attitude towards progress is different. There are some people who in one way or another thinks possibilities on how to be progressive even if they think it’s impossible. Some may think about progress but doesn't have the guts in pursuing it even in his own little way. Of course we need a group to be with in order to be progressive but there are times when chances are not crossing our way, so as what I have said, we can do it even in our own little way. For example at home, even how small is our area we have to think of ways on how to improve our surroundings. When people see it at least they can get an idea on how will they make it on their own too.

At work, like in my experience, I've been in the private institution for years where buildings are highly developed. When I stepped into the public school, at first I got a headache by looking at the 20 million dust around the classroom where I was assigned as the adviser. The old put ups are dusty, the walls have holes, the paint are fading with little mud on it. I never stopped thinking how to make it better. So together with the students we pulled out everything posted on the walls. We emptied the classroom and started a new beginning. Students opinion were gathered and materialize them. Well, it is not that beautiful but at least they were able to make modifications and have improved it.

The five year development plan that I have shown in the power point presentation during the seminar workshop, was just an honest opinion. There was a lot of dead spaces in the area that needs to be omitted. Though expensive but if we need progress, we can find ways on improving it. Whatever will be their reaction to it, at least I am able to share what I think is best for the area.

“Life is a constant change.” I can never forget this line from Jose Mari Chan’s song entitled Constant Change. Things change as it should. Feelings change, some of our plans changes, the climate of our very own country already changes, and even the zodiac changes. Whether we like it or not, everything in this world never stays the same. Even in simple things. It is not excuse for wherever change must hit.

But no matter what type of work you have now, the only key to improve is change. This saying is definitely true: If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you’ve already got. There will be no room for improvement to a person who is not open to changes. Because change is a stepping stone to live a better life.

If a person wants to survive in this fast changing world, I am pretty sure he will survive in his own way if he will wholeheartedly accept change. No matter how strong he is if he is not open to changes he will not survive nor succeed. Even intelligence, it cannot solely help an individual to survive not unless if he knows how to use his knowledge in dancing with the music that is in.

No matter what kind of change life has to offer, one must be able to weigh it up if it is for the good of all, then he can go with it. Anyway, nobody will propose any change if it is not for the betterment of the country and human race. I remember when the SEC 2010 that UBD (Understanding-by-design) was introduced. A lot of teachers reacted; a lot were against the idea. Well, maybe it was just an initial reaction. Later, they will love it when they are used to it. Being a new teacher in the public school, what I have to do is observe. That was before the seminar and its implementation. When I was sent to a seminar-workshop for the said curriculum, I was happy because I actually like it. I never thought that UBD simply means “learning-by-doing”. That is what we used to apply in our lesson when I was in the private school for eight years. Our students are also used to for a long time already. So, it isn’t new to me. Only it’s used term, UBD. J I understand it is not that easy to those who love the traditional way of teaching because they find it effective for years. Well, yes it was! Maybe 20 years ago. Where there were no cell phones, no internet, online games and social networking sites those students nowadays are fond of checking every now and then. The trend 20 years ago is already different from the trend we have now. So, it is but normal that the persons in authority have to brain storm as to what will be the effective way of catching students’ attention and impose whatever many people has approved.

For us to move forward, we must change. Change from good to better if not best.

Got these two hearts from the church. Pinned by the members of the youth council. It's cute, I never expected to have them on this day. They scattered after the mass and look for people who would want to be pinned with their artistic hearts.

After mass, we went off for dinner. It's overly romantic having this candle on the table. I have never celebrated valentine's day at Jollibee. This is my first time in their fast food chain. Candle candle effect. :-)

Looking at the sky on Friday. A come back post. it's been a busy year for the 5 subject loads with 4 preparations. All subjects are new so it means all start in a laborious beginning. I am talking about my career here. :-) But aside from the hectic schedule, I still find time for my e-hobbies. And one of those is posting Friday photo. Though I miss a lot of things, still it can never stop me from coming back here. Actually,I have more sky photos in my phone cam, but I just can't upload it due to viral infection. Lol. Uhmm, I need to install an anti-virus that can fight against these viruses.

Well, anyway, this photo was taken last December during the Christmas vacation. It's in a hidden resort located at Lamac, Pinamungahan, Cebu, Philippines. The place is quite relaxing. We usually visit here during vacation or holiday.

"Life is a constant change." I can never forget this line from Jose Mari Chan's song entitled Constant Change. Things change as it should. Feelings change, some of our plans changes, the climate of our very own country already changes, and even the zodiac changes. Whether we like it or not, everything in this world never stays the same. Even simple things.

But no matter what type of work you have now, the only key to improve is change. This saying is definitely true: If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you've already got. There will be no room for improvement to a person who is not open to changes. Because change is the stepping stone to live a good life.

For us to move forward, we must change. Change from good to better if not best.

Normally, it's hard to let go of someone who became part your life for quite a long time. Especially if you are already get used to it and you have learned to love it wholeheartedly.

But in this world, nothing stays the same all through out the ages. There maybe changes one has to encounter. And usually, change is accompanied with pain. But if we have to consider this "Constant Change," we may be able to realize that everything in this world is indespensable. Though letting go of those that are no longer ours leave mark, we still have to untie it so that we may be able to accept the new sistuation life has to offer. Charr lang!!!! :-)

Sinulog 2011

Viva Señor Sto. Niño!

Despite of the heavy rain, it didn't stop devotees to flock to the city to attend mass at the Basilica, watch the street dancing competition while others have to be inside the Abellana Sports Center to witness the entire Sinulog 2011 contest.

I took this picture on Saturday inside the mall after walking under the rain. The rain was indeed heavy. It stops but it gets back. When the rain pours, it floods in the sideways of the road. So, people are trapped in one area. Most of the people wait until the rain stops and the water is totally drained. But some didn't mind these. Devotees still walk and join the procession despite the weather condition. We were not able to join because we were very late. There was a heavy traffic in the highway too. So when we get where the procession have to pass, we stay for a while and few minutes after, the baby Jesus pass. People waved their hands with love and devotion. it's quite hard to get nearer due to the huge flock of devotees. Far yet near if He is in the heart of everyone.

On Sunday, I prefer to stay at home watching the live coverage of the Sinulog 2011.

It' been a year and 9 months since the last format of my hp540. Recently, I observed that it is not working well like before. I know it's already infected, but I consider it mild. But as days passed by, it's already alarming :-( It already took minutes in uploading one image.

Lately, I have decided to buy DVDs for my files which is about 20G. it includes my personal documents, videos, and most of all images. One DVD is only about 4.7G. So I bought 10, the extra will be reserved in case I mistaken transfer it to the said storage device.

New Year's Resolution

My height is 5'3" and as shown in the height to weight ratio chart below (boxed with red), if a person stands 5'3" the target weight is at least 128 lbs. But I only weigh 98 pounds. I feel sad when I see this chart. Anyway, it is still my fault because I am too picky on foods. If I don't like the color and appearance I just take a little of it. I only eat much if I love the food. But it seldom happens. Well, I eat meals regularly, i t just didn't reach the minimum requirement maybe. So with this, I need self-discipline in order to gain weight. It might not be that easy for me but I will try my very best.

At first, I thought manual drafting is easier than computer-aided drafting. It really took me so long to have this project made. It's somewhat like learning how to walk before we run, as what I have mentioned in my previous post. I think that was months ago.

Yahoo Mail Issue

When I opened my yahoo mail today, I found out that its setting is the mail plus. It's been a long time when I am using the mail classic. It's more comfortable to use compared to mail plus. I did not revert mail classic to mail plus. Why did it happen? It's the mail plus that appeared just recently.

Another issue here is that, my contacts were gone. Not even one in my address book is left. I wonder if someone has opened my account and refresh my page or yahoo itself did it. (?)

One great celebration usually falls on the second day of November. We value, we cherish this moment with much love and sometimes regrets for their loss. But we couldn’t tell them to stay when God wants them to be with Him all along. All we have to keep is just the memory of the past. Good or bad. We can never make things perfect though we tried to be. But behind those imperfections lies possibility to change the wrong acts we have done. As long as we live, we have all the chance to make things better if not best.

Teaching Filipino Made Easy

It's been a year when I started teaching Filipino. It's a little bit hard. But it’s challenging. :-)

Although, I can copy my old self made lesson plan but not all its details because I need to improve it with the new techniques I learned from peer, from seminars and others. Sometimes, the length of preparation remains the same. Hence, it takes a longer time referring to the old one. I need to make comparison. Later, I decided to do it alone with the new strategies. It's not that I just don't want to give more time for it. But...I just have a lot of things to prepare. Namely: ICT I, ICT III, Computer Education I for Special Science Class and Values Education. With these subjects, my time is not only for LP but for visual aids too. I am handling two sections for ICT I and I section for the special Science class. Both are first years but they don’t share the same preparation. CompEd is quite advanced that it consume topics for ICT I and II. For ICT III, I only have one section. For my advisory class, we have the Filipino and Values.

It’s my first time teaching on both of the subjects mentioned. Well, I love ICT of course thought it’s quite far from my field of specialization (Architectural Drafting). Speaking of Filipino, well, I still love it anyway, I love the challenge! Life can never be boring with new experiences. Some may think it's laborious but never with me because in every task I do is an offering, a thanksgiving. I also would like to share one of my favorite bible quotes about service. Ephesians 6:5-7
“Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; not by way of eye service, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men.”

I’ve already got a long introduction. Lol. Well, I can never begin with an ending anyway. :-) Actually, I just would like to share this new page by the Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE). This is intended for all teachers under the Department of Education, Philippines. It is found at http://bse.portal.ph/. It was introduced to us by the school principal of TNVS during our INSET Seminar 2010. It is where I found learning modules in Filipino and a lesson plan. Both can be downloaded. This really made my task easier. I will not be wasting time of thinking what and how can I make it perfect. Because, a perfect tool for this, is already within my reach. It’s just a modem away.

With learning modules, it supplies not only Filipino but also other subjects. The same with the lesson plans. Both items are submitted, corrected and then published. When it is published it can already be read and downloaded by anybody who needs it.

A special thanks to those who initiated this idea. To the contributors of this reference, thank you for sharing your knowledge. A lot of teachers can benefit this fruit of labor from you.

How to Heal a Broken Heart

Someone asked why our heart can not be converted. Because she wanted to have hers if there is an opportunity. I didn’t bother to ask why; obviously, she was hurt. Anyway, a physical pain cures easily compared to an emotional pain. That’s a fact. If I am going to accumulate her tears from the beginning of her story up to the last minute of our conversation, it can already make a long river. Who can stop her feelings from being hurt? No can tell but her alone.

If she’s courageous enough to express what she felt without considering other peoples feelings, then it maybe take her away from being hurt that bad. But being so conscious about other peoples feelings led her to keep the heartaches she undergoes. But for me it’s not healthy. She must fight for her right. Show to people that she is not a doormat that others used to step on.

Building a bridge and get over it is the best option. Let me tell her, “Go ahead! Do what is right and what makes you happy.”

It's Thursday when she started typing her test questions which is to be submitted the next day. She thought it was easy. She started the job at 7:30 in the morning. Looking at her, I thought to myself that she must be learning how to walk before she run. I couldn't help because I'm having a class and I also have to do the same thing during my free time. Nobody cares to help because they're doing their own job too. All were running out of time!

It was 11:00 A.M. when someone noticed she's still in item number 2. Many were wondering why? Then, they knew that her finished 9 items were done but accidentally erased. I don't know what really happened because I was not around during the incident. Maybe retyping was her last resort. Well, for me it's okay as long as she learns from her mistake. It's the greatest wisdom she have acquired at that very moment.

It's late when we go home in the afternoon. She was happy that she was able to make up to item number 16. Take note, she started at 7:30 A.M. and at around 5:00 o'clock in the same day, only 16 items? But she just laugh and said, "I thought it was easy but I was terribly wrong!" :-)

The following day, she went in again and continue doing her unfinished job. And finally finished 50 items before sunset.

NEC Make-a-difference Drive

Nature. Education. Community. The heart of NEC.

Nature. Instead of disposing these somewhere, they donated these PC units to the government school.

Education. With these they will be able to help children in school learn at least the basics of technology.

Community. They are a private company but they were able to extend their blessings to the community.

The above photo is one of the benefactors of their Make-a-difference drive. These children for sure will be able to enhance their ability in computer and technology. NEC's community extension project is very useful in educating these children. It's a great honor and a very heartwarming experience being the recipient of these durable and useful computers.

First Time

Now handling a subject which is quite far from my specialization. Drafting to Computer in specific. It was quite tough in the beginning, its preparation seems too laborious. But with the help of the internet access, I can Google everything that I need.

Another challenge was assigned to me on Monday. I was asked to coach our contestant for the cocktail mixing contest. In the guidelines, it is said that we have to use the gin. We then look for an affordable ingredients. Meanwhile contestant suggested Million Dollar Cocktail. The ingredients were pineapple juice, gin, sweet vermouth, grenadine syrup, egg white and ice cubes.

Two days before the contest, we tried the recipe following the correct measurements. But all who tasted did not approved its taste as well as its appearance. A second try was done; same ingredients minus egg white. It was good and also the taste and the appearance as well. He garnish it with pineapple and cherry. Because we modify it, we name as "A Million Dollar Cocktail."

The result? Well, it's good enough! He won second place. Our glass was not appropriate. It was supposed to be a cocktail glass (champagne saucer) but we served it in a flute. It's the only available. :-)

5. Laugh. It's the secret of youth. But do not laugh when you're alone. :-) It's another story.

On October 4, 2010, I received mail from Google. Of course I'm surprised upon receiving this but when I see the text in red, I was a little bit disappointed and oh! Huhuhuh wish I was able to have it on hand before the date. Then, I asked myself do I have any business to promote? Lol!

It's worth is above. When I opened the envelope, there was a note telling that if used beyond Sept 30, the amount will lower down to 1,000. But still can't use it for I don't have any business online at all.

In the year 2001, I got my first cellphone. That was Nokia 5110, I bought it second hand from a former colleague.

The second was a brand new Nokia 3310 which I bought in 2003 when I was in Balabagan, Lanao del Sur.

In 2005, I got my third phone! It is already 5 years old, it's quite old and obsolete. So I am planning to buy another one in November.

Still undecided what to buy. But I think I should try Samsung. Now looking for practical unit suitable for my need. The one that I can use to record scores of my students. Compute grades even if I'm away from school, and something that I can use to type my reports in school. A gadget that is not as heavy as my notebook computer.

Got an answer of my controversial question, "How to change adsense name?" I got a problem on this lately because my name in the national statistics office is misspelled! As advised by our company lawyer, I need to follow what is recorded at NSO. Recently, I am filing for correction on my records and documents. And one of these is my Adsense name.

Here's how in case you have friends or anybody you know who is having the same problem of mine.

1. Go to "My Account" on blogger.
2. Log-in with your google email and password.
3. Click "My Account" tab.
4. Scroll down to payment details, click edit, and click continue.
You will be led to the next page after clicking continue.

The materials you have seen are junk. Yes they are! Including the electrical meter. It was taken beside CEBECO III or Cebu Electric Company office. It have given me the idea on what am I going to do with my old stuffs that can't be sold and don't have enough space for them. Soon I'll be working with my garden, I can include some stuffs in there.

The Taxi Driver's Best Friend

Last month, I ride a taxi going to my destination. While on my way, I heard a plastic sound coming from the lower left side of the diver's seat. I look at the driver with a lot of questions on my mind. Maybe he was thinking too that I'm wondering what would that be. Then he said, it's a cat, our guard, our protector. He placed it inside a plastic and lose it when needed. I was astonished and ask why you are bringing him with you? Silence...

He was a retired policeman who just don't like to stay at home and wait for the day to end. He's not that old. So, he is driving a taxi. He used to have a firearm before and of course used to it. But not this time anymore because he is bringing with him his precious cat. I was curious why this cat? He said, his cat can protect him and his passengers from bad guys. He also mentioned that everyday after bath he is training this cat how to fight. When violent actions are seen by this cat, he will begin to fight.

Amazing but scary. Before I stepped down, he added, here's the water for my cat and also his food. I walked with a lot of questions in my mind. How does the cat looks like? How did he train his cat to that field? It seems like I was dreaming on that moment.

My Aunt, an HRM professor at MSU's satellite school in Lanao del Norte together with some students joined "Kumbira 2010" on August 18-20, 2010 at Cagayan de Oro City. Kumbira was held at The Atrium, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.

Floor Plan for Small Areas

Since when I knew about house planning, it became a hobby. I always sketch for my dream house. When I was still in a boarding house, I already had a dream plan. It's floor area was about 100 sq. m. with preparation for 2nd floor. I never thought it was expensive. When the money allotted for the said project was on hand, I realized that my plan will not be realized due to high cost of construction materials.

It was revised. I had a pencil sketch on this, before I knew Computer Aided Drafting. It started with a 25 sq. m. floor area. The kitchen found at the right side was the added last. It is only 3.75 sq. m. which makes the floor area 28.75 sq. m.
Traffic is not only for the road and other ways but also inside the house. As you can see, even how small it is, the traffic pattern takes a smooth flow. If a person passes through the main door to the bedroom or to the t & b, he can not disturb the living area as well as the dining area. If one has to pass through the back door still both areas mentioned can never be disturbed.

I have been in the boarding house in about 7 years before its construction. My brothers and sisters in the other islands of the country sometimes visit. And I find it hard to accommodate them in my rented room. We sleep like fish in a can of sardines for how many times. It wasn't comfortable though. Now at least even if it is still small, it is spacious compared to my room in the boarding house.

Drafting and Technology

The love to draw occurs when I was in early years of school. Then, developed when I was in high school where Trade Drawing subject was offered. After high school I took Architectural Drafting and get a bachelor's diploma after four years. My first on-the-job-training was on summer 1998 at RS and Sons Shipbuilders. Another venue for my OJT was on the first semester of school year 1998-1999 at Cebu 3rd Engineering Department and at TEC, Industries (furniture exporter) on the second semester. The experiences I have with them was short yet unforgettable. I learned a lot of things on those days but not with CAD.

CAD was introduced during college days but that was not widely used at that time in our school. I can still remember the first AutoCAD application we were able to use, it was AutoCAD version 1998. We only have one computer unit in our laboratory at that time. So, only one student can use it in a day. Our professor arranged it like alphabetical order so that he can easily monitor and make sure that everyone can experience computer drafting.

In the school year 2001-2009, I've been teaching drafting but the manual one. Well, I have mentioned about CAD to my students but they were not able to experience using it. It's not because, we do not have the computer nor the program but because it is integrated in their computer subject.

Recently, I am enrolling a master's degree major in Architectural Drafting. It doesn't matter if I am teaching Filipino subject when I first enrolled. That was last year. By hook or by crook I will finish the course whatever subject will be given to me. :-) This year, my subject load is Information and Communication Technology or ICT in first year and third year high school. Uhm, well, I love it! And I am actually very happy about it. But I still dream that someday I will be able to teach drafting so I can exercise and share my knowledge in AutoCAD before it gets obsolete.
